Watch: Mundy Performs His Awesome Hit “July” @ Trinity College, Ireland

This song by Mundy is very catchy — extremely popular throughout Ireland — yet, I doubt more than a half-dozen people in America have ever even heard it.  It’s really shocking how so much great music across the world remains local, and never gets ushered onto the world stage.  What a waste…

Mundy’s own independent label, Camcor Records, released this amazing song on his 2002 album 24 Star Hotel. I stumbled upon it while in Ireland sometime around the mid-point of this decade.  My wife and I were loading up with Irish music at a small CD store in Dingle to keep our car stereo humming along with tunes that might compliment the beautiful Irish countryside all around us, and — low and behold — halfway through The Definitive Irish Folk Collection Vol.2 this Mundy song jumped out of our speakers.  Well, I’ll just say that it got a lot of play over those couple weeks.  You’ll see from the crowd participation just how popular this song is in the Emerald Isle.

Here is Mundy performing “July” and then a great rendition of Harry Nilsson’s “Everybody’s Talkin,” on Rag Week’s opening night — 2008 — at Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland.  Enjoy!:
