GENOCIDE DENIAL IS AS BAD AS THE DEED ITSELF.
NOW JUST IMAGINE THE U.S. DENYING THE ZION GENOCIDE, FOR FEAR OF OFFENDING ALL THE ARAB NATIONS ? WHAT WOULD BE THE RESULT ? ALL HELL WOULD LET LOOSE? THIS IS UNIMAGINEABLE. SOOO WHY DENY THE ARMENIAN GENOCIDE, WHICH HE PROMISED HE WOULD ACCEPT ? REMEMBER THE ARMENIAN GENOCIDE OF 1.5 MILLION CHRISTIAN ARMENIANS TOOK PLACE BEFORE THE JEWISH ONE.
SHAME, SHAME, SHAME.

Lucine,
I just fixed your 'RE:' for you, above.

Meddling within the government by entrenched interests is the same kind of thing you see in the Middle East on Gaza. As Appok stated above (Update #5), "By politicizing this bill, they are essentially turning history into a commodity, to be bought and traded in exchange of political and diplomatic capital."

It's a crying shame.

Look who the <a href="http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704187204575101981018521028.html" rel="nofollow">Wall Street Journal</a> is reporting was also lobbying to get this resolution thrown out:

<blockquote>"Thursday's vote also raised concerns for big U.S. defense firms including Lockheed Martin Corp., Boeing Co., Raytheon Co., United Technologies Corp. and Northrop Grumman Corp. Turkey is involved in several weapons projects with such companies, including helicopters, missiles and the F-35 fighter jet, and the companies are worried about losing business."</blockquote>

<strong>RE:</strong> ‘I thought I’d address one of the core arguments being made by some of the critics of this resolution; that being: “<em>It’s not the US’s business to weigh in.</em>” ‘

The problem (as you know, Stan) is that, much as this administration would have us believe otherwise, the US is not only weighing IN, but throwing its weight AROUND. Who is the U.S. fooling? A measly non-binding congressional resolution ( a drop in the bucket compared to the punishment and restitution that Turkey still has to reckon for) brought up for a vote by American constituents of Armenian descent is the right of every American citizen. Meanwhile, here come paid lobbyists and foreign governments meddling in the internal affairs of the United States. Throw in several U.S. legislators, both on active duty and retired, now in the employ of the Turkish lobby and you have one scale-breaking elephant in the room WEIGHING IN.

"Let's not upset the delicate reconciliation process already underway between Turkey and Armenia" is but one remark replayed ad nauseum in every statement and interview "Team Obomber" makes and conducts.

Well, who pray tell, is at the helm of this supposed "reconciliation?" None other than the U.S. Dept of State, who is doing everything it can to not just marginalize and minimize the Armenian Genocide, but obliterate it once and for all. And what is this "delicate reconciliation" process, you may ask?

Nothing short of Armenian capitulation, plain and simple. These "protocols" strip this beleaguered nation of any dignity it still has -- and even calls for it to agree to a historic sub-commission to study the veracity of the Armenian Genocide!

This week and last, one need only read the news and opinion pages in "mainstream" media outlets (NYT, WSJ, AP, Reuters, WaPost, Boston Globe) to see the cherry-picked hired guns for Turkish (and Israeli/Jewish!) denial out in full force, editorializing, threatening and outright lying ... all intended to quash the genocide resolution, to apply double standards, to cast doubt on the veracity of the Armenian Genocide, to avoid culpability for this premeditated and unpunished act of race extermination, and ultimately, to prevent the rightful return of the Armenian nation and patrimony to its own people! Contrary to the disgraceful treatment the above papers have given to the ongoing rape of the Armenian, Assyrian and Greek people of the Near East, AlterPolitics has chosen to research and publish a factual and morally sound article. This incident alone should validate for all the need for an alternative press. Thank you, AlterPolitics.
